Benefits that support you at every stage in your career
At Providence Swedish, we empower you with best-in-class benefits, whether you’re just starting your professional journey, building mid-career momentum or looking ahead to retirement. When you join our team, you become part of a community that prioritizes well-being, growth and belonging. That’s reflected in how we care for—and invest in—you with benefits and perks designed to meet your evolving needs and priorities so you can live your best life.
Starting strong in your healthcare career
Stepping into the healthcare field is exciting, but it can feel a little overwhelming. Beyond medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts and paid time away, we offer a variety of voluntary benefits that help you establish financial stability and get set up for a lifetime of wellness as you are finding your footing in your new career.
Education debt management
No one wants to begin their career buried in student debt. We offer benefits like tuition reimbursement and a host of resources to minimize that burden. For example, non-represented employees may qualify for up to $5,250 in education reimbursement annually and SEIU 1199NW-represented caregivers can take advantage of our Multi-Employer Training Fund like Krystal, who began at Providence Swedish as a Patient Sitter and was able to obtain training to become a Nursing Assistant.
Caregivers also have access to experts who help employees and their family members with questions about delinquency, default, loan forgiveness, refinancing, repayment plans, affordability and more.
We also offer a variety of online and in-person opportunities for caregivers and their dependents to receive an education conveniently and affordably through our partnership with the University of Providence (UP). Caregivers who use their benefit at UP can participate in immediate tuition reimbursement, providing funds earlier to pay for schooling at the beginning of the term.
Finally, all Providence Swedish caregivers qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) after 10 years of service. We have partnered with Tuition.io to guide all caregivers through their student loans and offer ways to lower monthly payments or get their loans forgiven.
Parents of college-bound children can also use Tuition.io to explore ways to save for and pay for tuition with unlimited 1:1 coaching on student loans, federal program updates, and college planning.
Get set up for a lifetime of wellness
Early in your career, you may be transitioning from your parents’ benefits to having your own for the first time. ALEX, our virtual benefits counselor, walks you through the enrollment process and helps you decide which benefits to enroll in based on your unique needs and goals for the future. ALEX considers premium and out-of-pocket costs, as well as any savings opportunities, to make recommendations. Our Benefits Service Center (BSC) representatives are also ready to answer questions about coverage or enrollment.
Balancing work and life as you build momentum
As you move further into your career, you may have additional responsibilities on and off the clock that make work-life balance and maintaining your physical and emotional health even more of a priority. While these benefits are available to all caregivers regardless of the stage in their career, they may feel particularly relevant when you’re building momentum in your role.
Staying physically and mentally healthy
Our Personify Health well-being platform supports daily engagement and social connections with well-being tools and rewards for making self-care a priority. For example, caregivers can earn a health incentive to help with out-of-pocket health care expenses. Caregivers also receive access to tools and discounts that help them stay physically and mentally fit while meeting demanding schedules.
Working in healthcare can be stressful, and everyone needs support sometimes. Through our Caregiver Assistance Program, you and each member of your family gets 25 free therapy sessions for mental health, professional coaching and more. This free, confidential mental health support is available 24/7 for mental and emotional health challenges like stress, sleep, anxiety, depression and relationship issues. Services include individual, couples, family and child therapy, guided resources and self-care tools.
We also offer wellness and mindfulness-focused programs to help caregivers center themselves on shift. You’ll find reflection rooms, stress management initiatives and wellness retreats designed to help you feel your best. Caregivers also have access to a nicotine cessation support program, as well as digital weight management programs to reduce the risk of developing diabetes and heart disease.
At this stage in your career, your family may be growing and making work-life balance even more critical. That’s why we offer:
- Paid time away, flexible scheduling, commuter benefits, pet insurance and backup child and elder care through Bright Horizons to help with all the caring you provide off the clock and ensure you’re covered when the unexpected happens.
- Legal advice and assistance for will preparation, debt problems, family law, real estate matters and more.
- Disability benefits that provide a financial safety net if you cannot work due to an illness or injury. Eligible caregivers receive basic long-term disability (LTD) insurance at no cost. Basic LTD insurance provides 60% of covered monthly earnings, up to $10,000 per month.
- Up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for a personal medical condition, to care for a family member or to bond with a newborn, newly adopted or foster child.
When you find yourself Googling “best places to retire”
Priorities at the end of your career look different than in the beginning, and our benefits meet you where you are.
Accelerate retirement benefits
Our retirement program is easy to understand and flexible so you can invest your savings how you want. Matched 401(k) and 457(b) plans are available starting on your first day. Depending on the type of plan, in 2025, caregivers aged 50 or over can contribute an additional $7,500, and those who reach age 60, 61, 62 or 63 in 2025 may make up to $11,250 in catch-up contributions.
Protect your legacy
While life insurance benefits are available to every Providence Swedish caregiver, no matter your role or experience level, it’s a good idea to evaluate your coverage later in your career to make sure it still makes sense for you and your family. We provide basic life insurance through Securian, equal to two times your annual base pay (up to $1 million) at no cost to you.
Life insurance concierge services ensure that in the event of a loss, the following assistance is available:
- Funeral home arrangements (if assignment of life insurance proceeds is requested to pay for services)
- Claim filing assistance
- Assistance with any additional questions
- Grief counseling, available through the medical plan or the Caregiver Assistance Program
Supplemental life and voluntary AD&D benefits are also available, providing up to four times your base pay or $500,000, whichever is less.
