Relocation benefits can help make your perfect job at Providence Swedish a reality
Sometimes, your ideal role is farther than just a hop, skip or jump away. That’s why we support eligible candidates with a comprehensive relocation package as an added benefit for many roles at Providence Swedish. We do this in partnership with top relocation company Global Mobility Solutions. Here’s a look at what relocation-eligible positions offer.
A seamless transition
“I moved from Hawaii,” says RN Gerri, who works as an Acute Care Charge RN at Swedish First Hill. “The family decided that everybody needed to go back to the mainland. I had two options, two states where my children lived. Swedish offered me a job and I was so happy—I didn’t realize that I would be given the opportunity to be moved by Swedish. I was really honored that they would move my whole family and my dog.”
Relocation can be both exciting and stressful, and our relocation managers and coaches are trained to minimize the stress to make your move as seamless as possible. Gerri had a relocation coach to help throughout the entire process. “She assisted me in every little thing,” she says.
Gerri recalls thinking, “How are we going to be able to get started again?” Providence Swedish helped Gerri and her family envision that with personalized support and a weeklong house hunting trip to explore neighborhoods and schools. She says, “We had the chance to come in for a week to see areas and apartments. It was a really big help with two kids in college and one in high school.”
A focus on what matters
Home is where the heart is, and we want relocating caregivers to love their new homes and communities. We assist in helping you select a knowledgeable real estate agent or local rental specialist who can screen local communities and real estate/rental listings based on your needs and priorities, so that your search is fast and rewarding. In addition, relocation benefits may include:
- House hunting trip or rental tour: Like Gerri’s experience, these trips may include hotel accommodations, airfare or mileage reimbursement, a rental car, reimbursable meal expenses and even childcare. In the case of rentals, rental tour fees can be covered, as well.
- Temporary housing: If short-term living arrangements are needed in your new location, temporary housing assistance may be available for up to two months.
- Movement and storage of household goods: Many relocation packages include a pre-move survey of your household goods, packing and moving a minimum of 7,000 pounds of your belongings to your destination, insurance for your items, unloading and placement of all furniture at your new residence. Your package includes shipment of a vehicle, as well.
- Non-perishable food donation through Move for Hunger: In the spirit of serving all, every relocating caregiver is offered the opportunity to donate non-perishable food that may otherwise be thrown out to Move for Hunger. Everything from canned veggies and fruits to baby food, rice, peanut butter and jelly can be donated to support families in need.
Support through and after the relocation process
When moving day arrives, you may be reimbursed for you and your family to travel to your new location. We can even help make those travel plans for you.
Relocated caregivers may receive an allowance to help defray incidental expenses associated with the move. These expenses may include things like meals during the move trip, trips to your previous home, tips for movers, driver’s license and automobile registrations in your new location, cable and phone installation, utility hookups, childcare and more. Pet expenses such as transportation, boarding and veterinarian care may also be included.
Relocation is just one of the many ways we care for our caregivers. See the rest of our comprehensive benefits.
