Three reasons to join Providence Swedish as a clinic RN
Clinic-based nurses are critical to providing excellent preventative, urgent and outpatient care in the communities we serve. Interested in joining us as a clinic RN? We spoke with Pediatric Specialty Care RN Randi about three reasons she loves coming to work at a Providence Swedish clinic.
Reason 1: Providence Swedish clinics are welcoming to all.
Randi started at our clinic eight years ago when her husband’s job transfer brought them to the area. She says she was immediately welcomed and continues to feel supported by her team every day. “I hadn’t worked in clinics before, I worked on the floor. But when I came here it just was the best experience ever. And now I would say out of my whole 28 years of nursing, this has been by far my favorite job.”
Randi loves the mutual respect and camaraderie, saying, “Everybody is super supportive. I work with providers, medical assistants, patient care coordinators, other nurses—all different levels of people. We work well as a team and learn from each other. Our nurse manager is always checking in on us, making sure we’re doing okay. And our administrative manager is absolutely wonderful. She goes above and beyond.”
Reason 2: Working as a Providence Swedish clinic RN can mean better work-life balance.
Randi uses her transportation benefit of a low-cost Orca card to ride the bus to work, which she enjoys. And she says her clinic hours help her stay balanced. “I like being in a clinic and working Monday through Friday, and being able to be home in the evenings and weekends so I can focus on my family.” In her spare time, Randi’s a nature photographer, which helps keep her grounded. And when she needs extra support, she takes advantage of the mental health benefits offered to all caregivers.
Reason 3: Providence Swedish clinics offer tons of opportunities for career growth and development.
Providence prioritizes career development for all caregivers, offering a plethora of opportunities for continuing education and professional advancement. Randi says, “I see many opportunities for growth here. I’d like to move up into more of a management position and I feel it’s very feasible here. My nurse manager would totally help me out in trying to better myself and step up into a position like that. Or, you know, what other opportunities might come about, I feel like I could transition very well into another position here within the Providence Swedish organization.”
