Wage increases—and four more great reasons to join us as a Tech in Everett
Recognized as one of the Best Hospitals in the Seattle Metro area by U.S. News & World Report, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE) is a great place to work as a Technician or Technologist in Respiratory Care, Radiology, Pharmacy, Surgery and more.
Here are five reasons to check out open roles and apply today.
Reason 1: Competitive wages and financial perks
At PRMCE, techs are among the best compensated in the region. Thanks to recent contract negotiations, Everett Technical workers secured significant wage increases across all job classifications, in addition to other wins that help ensure techs feel valued for their work.
Maria, a Vascular Technologist and member of the bargaining team, shares, “Our union bargaining team worked incredibly hard for this win—and it shows! We focused heavily on wages that will benefit everyone, and secured creative language to try to resolve ongoing workplace issues and address the challenges Techs at PRMCE face every day. We are very proud of the collaboration between our leadership team and members of our bargaining team.”
Wage increases apply across job categories, including:
In addition, all Providence Swedish caregivers receive a comprehensive total rewards package with paid time away, tuition reimbursement, excellent health and insurance benefits, retirement plan options, referral bonuses, entertainment and well-being discounts and deals, and opportunities to earn additional wages for extra shifts.
Reason 2: Staff camaraderie fosters a sense of belonging.
PRMCE caregivers feel supported by their teams, which in turn benefits patients. Melissa, a Respiratory Therapist, says, “Having support and trust from our leaders and physicians allows us to make meaningful impacts on our patients and community on a daily basis. Our team supports each other whenever and wherever necessary. Every shift, you can almost guarantee someone will call asking if you need help with your assignment, so you never feel alone. Help is always there if you need it, whether it be to perform a task or to brainstorm solutions for complex cases.”
Ava, a newer Respiratory Therapist, says she feels supported by her team both on and off the clock. “Being new to this field and department, our team makes sure I am always supported and is always open to questions I may have as I navigate through my new career. And the team fosters camaraderie through small group activities outside of the workplace.”
Reason 3: We’ll help you outgrow your current role (if that’s your goal).
Caregivers have access to mentorship and opportunities for career advancement at every stage in their careers. Even though Ava’s still new to her role, she already sees a path for advancement in front of her. “My managers have done a great job of checking in and learning what my end goals are and guiding me to the path to success. I feel that the whole department is interested in me becoming the best RT I can be.”
Melissa could not agree more. She’s been with us in Everett for three years, and says, “I am most definitely a stronger therapist now than when I started at Providence. Our department has an incentivized Clinical Ladder for professional development that includes RCP II and III. Additionally, our manager consistently encourages our team to pursue further knowledge and learning. This year, I plan to sit for the ACCS exam as a way to deepen my understanding of adult critical care.”
Whether you work in Respiratory Care or Radiology, Pharmacy or Surgery, ours is a culture where leaders want to know your goals and help you find opportunities to grow your skillset and advance as far as you want to go.
Reason 4: A state-of-the-art hospital with a mission to serve
If you’re looking for a respected hospital where you’ll see a wide variety of cases—and work alongside others who share your purpose to care—look no further than Providence in Everett. Our medical center began in 1904 when the Sisters of Providence converted an Everett hotel into a 75-bed hospital. Now, our 571-bed facility is Washington state’s most award-winning hospital—distinguished for everything from specialty care to environmental excellence. Through it all, we’ve stayed true to our mission to serve everyone in the community, especially those most in need.
Carl Hinkson, PRMCE Senior Director of Ancillary Services, Respiratory Therapy, says, “Providence Swedish is very much a values-driven organization, which is something that separates us a lot from different healthcare systems across the country.”
Built on that values-driven foundation, PRMCE offers world-class acute care and the latest equipment and technology to empower Techs in their work. Highlights include:
- The only Level II Trauma center between Seattle and Bellingham
- The only neonatal ICU north of Seattle
- A Level 1 Cardiac Center with a first-of-its-kind cardiac surgery single stay unit (CSSSU)
- ICUs with “smart beds” with built-in scales and Roto beds, to reduce pressure on the lungs and improve oxygen flow
- 190,000+ imaging procedures performed each year by our Radiology team
- 1,500+ minimally invasive surgeries, joint surgeries and other procedures performed annually by our Orthopedics team
Ava says, “As an RT, being able to float to all parts of the hospital and seeing how our work impacts everyone from every perspective is very special.”
Melissa echoes this sentiment and feels that working at such a large hospital has enabled her to do her best work. “Respiratory is a highly respected department within our hospital where we are able to practice at the top of our licensure.”
Reason 5: Everett is an incredibly desirable place to work and live.
Just 45 minutes north of Seattle, Everett is one of the state’s largest cities and an outdoorsy caregiver’s paradise. To the west, you’ll find Port Gardner Bay, an inlet of Possession Sound, part of Puget Sound. To the (north)east, you’ll see the Cascade Mountains with views of Mount Pilchuck, Three Fingers, Glacier Peak and White Horse.
Everett has a thriving waterfront and downtown filled with bars, restaurants, theatres, street art, a huge sporting/events arena and some of the state’s best vintage shopping, so there’s never a shortage of things to do or places to be on your time off. Snohomish County is home to over one thousand farms, situating Everett in the middle of the freshest produce you can find and tons of outdoor seasonal fun. Everett is also friendly on the wallet—our team says they live at a fraction of what it would cost in Seattle, while still enjoying a large and vibrant city. And if you want to head to Seattle, you have easy access by bus, train or car. Everett also boasts the famous Boeing assembly plant and the headquarters of Funko, where fans can design their own custom Pop figures.
While our Everett caregivers find plenty to do in the city, when they opt to leave for vacation, they can fly out of Paine Field Airport with Alaska Airlines—a quicker and easier experience than flying out of SeaTac.
